Why Extreme Weather Costs More Than We Realize
MBS Research in a Minute

About Me

I am an applied economist exploring how physical climate risk affects economies, people, and the financial system, and how societies adapt.

My current research shows that extreme weather events, including heatwaves, droughts, floods, and storms, can affect investment, employment, and economic growth for years after they occur, with costs distributed unequally across regions. I combine causal methods with detailed regional data to identify these effects and understand their broader economic consequences.

Worked with the European Central Bank (ECB), the Leibniz Institute for Financial Research (SAFE) and the Deutsche Bundesbank.
